...are more humane than humans?
Here are some of my wildlife pictures
These old lions had formed a male male coalition in Botswana. One was lame and the other was hunting and feeding him
Lionesses live in larger prides and prefer to hunt and take care of the pride. They are protected by powerful lions who fight to take over them.
Lions mate every 10 minutes at least 50 times a day for 3-4 days. These shots are very easy when you come across them mating
This cub was of the group of lions I shot in Chobe Botswana. Cubs play and fight. Practice to be lions later to take over prides.
Caught this lioness yawning and showing all her teeth.
A lion also yawns. The lioness next to him is asleep.
This tigress was shot in Kabini very close to my farm in a watering hole in a winter morning. Was able to catch the reflection in this muddy water body.
Also shot in a safri in Kabini, this tiger was prowing around the territory. They frequently do this to carve their 10 square kilometers and ensure other males are not trying to encroach.
Shot in Kabini, the tiger was marking a tree and prowling. Was able to intercept him 4 times during the safari
It is common to nab a tiger late in the evening in Kabini in watering holes having their drink after a long day nap. This 9 year old hung out for a long time in this hole.
The same tiger after drinking will laze in the water to cool off.
It will rest, drink water several times before it starts hunting in the night.
Shot these close ups of these cheetahs in a Namibia conservation park which rehabilitates them in the wild. Some of these have come to Kuno in India now.
This Cheetah crossed the road in a game park in South Africa almost after sunset. There was enough light to highlight it's coat and eyes.
This plonked itself on the road blocking our landcruiser in South Africa. It had eaten too much and was unable to get up.
This leopard was rubbing itself on a tree in Namibia when I got this picture. The tree was infested with ant nests.
Surrounded by tourist vehicles, this leopard stalked it's prey in Botswana. Even after a long wait it could not complete it's hunt.
The best chance of spotting leopards is on a tree. It rarely comes down, except to hunt. This I caught on a tree in Moremi, Botswana.
The chobe river cruise has elephants teeming on the banks. The boats dock very close to the herds. In a group the elephants are not threatened.
When with young and when they feel threatened, they get into a defense formation with the young in the centre and older around them.
The dessert elephants in Namibia have a tough life. They are always on the move ans they need to find enough food in the dessert. They look white smeared with dessert sand.
Elephants are constantly being threatened. This one blocked our landcruiser in Botswana.
The national parks and private reserves cannot keep the nomadic elephants in bay. They frequently break the fences to move as this one I shot in South Africa.
We were camped very close to this one in Okawango swamps. It came to check us out and our accomodations.
They love the water bodies and swamp the lakes and rivers. You can see them in large herds at the rivers in Sri Lanka where I got this picture.
Even the yound ones take to the water at a early age. This one was swimming in Pinnawale in Srilanka and had just come out from water.
A family of elephants drinking together in Srilanka.
The okawango swamps are full of hippos. These kill more humans than cats in Africa. They look very sedate but can move very fast when angry.
Sleeping in the shallows of the Chobe river I got these Hippos from our boat . They look like they are in a formation.
The two Hippos catch the setting sun on a river cruise on the Zambesi river in Victoria Falls Zimbabwe.
Hippos rarely come to land during the day. Their skin is too soft. This was a rare shot of a Hippo grazing in noon in Uganda Queen Elizabeth National Park
Kaziranga Rhino is best viewed early morning from Elephant top. They are presently doing well and thriving in rich grasslands here.
We walked in Ziwa national park Uganda to find these sleeping Rhinos . They are myopic and the rangers are very careful to take you there.
This standoff between Rhino and buffalo happened in Kaziranga. Very fortunate to shoot this.
Giraffe dring water in a watering hole with a Oryx walking past in Namibia.
This is the national animal of Namibia. These two posed for me like a reflection
These female chimps are waiting for the alpha male to call them for a interview. A large gang of chimps had finished patrolling in Kaibale Uganda.
